Starwood Capital Group’s deep experience in the hospitality sector has allowed Starwood European Real Estate Finance to underwrite and provide a diverse proposition for hospitality loans to a wide range of borrowers, asset types and structures.

Examples of whole loans include a €60 million loan made in February 2018 to a high quality Irish sponsor to fund the acquisition of a 764 key hotel, 27 apart-hotel units and ancillary development land in Dublin, a €46 million loan made in March 2017 to a joint venture between institutional quality investors secured by a 4 star 240 key hotel in central Barcelona’s 22@ district and a participation in a €99 million whole loan to completely refurbish two historic buildings in Amsterdam and open a W hotel. Mezzanine loans include a participation of £547 million in the Maybourne hotels financing in 2012 secured by assets including Claridges, The Connaught and the Berkeley Hotel, a £75 million loan made in June 2016 secured by a portfolio of limited service hotels located in the UK regions and a £45.9 million loan secured on 17 UK hotels in December 2017.
